The benefits of print on demand
Here at Wall Flair, we want to build an honest homeware brand. Our core values are sustainability, with emphasis on reducing and reusing. We believe in starting small and believe that we can do better. We want to pave the way for others in the industry to follow. The world is in crisis, but we know it isn’t reasonable to expect people to stop doing everything they love or to stop buying the things that they like. What we can do is give people no choice but to shop sustainably, think consciously and hold big industries accountable for their actions and their waste that is ultimately affecting our world.
Let’s start small. Here at Wall Flair, we are offering simple prints and canvases that have been inspired by nature and the world around us (shop now). We are an online, print on demand company. This means that we will not hold stock, which could potentially become landfill waste and we will only print our products once an order has been made.
Print on demand (POD) can have several positive impacts on the environment:
-
- Reduced waste: With POD, products are only printed and produced when an order is received, which reduces the risk of overproduction and minimises waste.
- Lower carbon footprint: Traditional mass manufacturing often requires the transportation of raw materials and finished products, leading to a higher carbon footprint. With POD, products are only produced when an order is received, reducing the amount of transportation and the associated carbon emissions.
- Increased use of sustainable materials: Many POD companies offer eco-friendly options, such as using recycled or biodegradable materials, which can have a positive impact on the environment.
- Reduced water usage: Some POD companies use digital printing processes that require less water compared to traditional printing methods.
By reducing waste, minimizing transportation and production, and increasing the use of sustainable materials, POD can help reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing and fulfillment process. Again, there shouldn’t be any fear around not being able to enjoy the things you like, let’s just find a more conscious way of doing it.
